Stop Bullying!

I had to do this for english paper but I'm so passionate about stopping bullying.  i had lots of fun with it, the statistics are scary and i wanted people to realize what they are doing!.  No one cared but one day they will. So many teenagers who are victims of bullying, even many teens who do bully against their friends. They must be helped and given a proper briefing.

We are living in a world where some people think that violence is the only reason to solve every problem.  If people keep this violence around us, it’s not going to get better. Violence has been in this world for centuries now and for the same causes, to gain power of authority. Kids in schools feel superior to others by calling other kids horrible names and making fun of them. Men hit women so they can “earn” their respect back. The point is that violence won’t make you a better person, it will make you a monster and nobody likes a monster.

Bullying has been an exceeding issue over the year. It is about time to make it stop!.  Bullying affects everyone not just the victims of bullying but, the bully’s and everyone surrounding them. The numbers of kids that are starting to become victims as well as bullies are increasing. Nobody like’s a bully and being one just makes matters worse. Bullying is a major problem.

Most people don’t realize how big of a problem this is. Bullying is so common in our lives that we don’t even realize that it’s happening when it does. We believe it to be something normal, everyday thing, when it’s not. Everything it happens, adults say “They’re kids. They’ll get over it.” And “It builds characters and makes them stronger. They can deal with it themselves” (From Brainy Quotes, Quotes.com). When in reality, it breaks us and rips apart bit by bit.

Bullying is a constant problem in schools today. It starts with annoying comments, but escalates to more severe matters. We’ve seen it happen, and a lot of us know how it feels. None of us like it. People might say they are just ignorant kids, but bullies truly are criminals, stealing self-esteem and at times ending lives.

Bullying can be defined as a form of torture toward an innocent person from another “person”, a bully. I have observed three forms of bullying, including physical, verbal, and cyber. Before we can discuss these forms of bullying, we must recognize the plot of bullying.  A bully is pathetic, insecure, and disgusting, by drawing on the pain and suffering from another human being for enjoyment. This “victim” is the one that gets harassed.

Bullying can take place anywhere, school, bus stop, neighborhoods, even at your job. However, bullying take place mostly at school. It is currently a huge problem in schools, making it difficult for student to focus academically. Both boys and girls are bullied at an undetermined amount. Bullying is wrong because it is inhumane,causing physical and emotional pain to another person is cruel. Punching, kicking, spiting, shoving, tripping, and breaking a person’s possessions, is all example of physical bullying. Using the body or another object to hurt another’s body or possession is physical bullying. 

The harassment doesn’t end when you step off the place and go home. Cyberbullying is becoming common on many social networks. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Path, Tumblr and so many other sites experience this. Teens of a variety of ages hide behind a computer screen, feeling they can do whatever they want to and say what they want and no one would be able to catch them. 42 % of teens have been cyber bullied. 8 % have said they have seen it happen  (From Scholastic Scope).

“Your overweight, ugly, stupid, gay, unwanted” are examples of verbal bullying. Verbal means using words to communicate. Therefore, verbal bullying is harassing with use of word. Writing notes is also verbal. The last type of bullying is, in my opinion, the worst type of them all, cyber bullying. Using the application of technology to hurt someone emotionally and demote his or her social status is cyber bullying.

Sending hateful emails, harassing videos, embarrassing photos, and posting downgrading status are all examples of cyber bullying. This is the worst because not only does it hurt the personally emotionally, but also makes them disliked by other people. Secondly, what is on the Internet can never be taken back. Leaving that person with a permanent reminder of the event. This is unacceptable. People shouldn't be afraid to attend school and get an education.

In order to resolve this problem we need to include these solutions. First, we need to implement stricture punishment. This will make the bullies think about what they are about to do, and reconsider harassing another student. Secondly, we need more security. Meaning, more faculty, officers, and cameras to survey the area to prevent bullying. Thirdly, we need to give incentives to the ones who actually take up for the victims.

Making the students realize doing the right thing is rewarding. Unfortunately, the school cannot resolve cyber bullying due to their inability to control what students do at home. Only the parents can resolve this. I recommend blocking any communication with that person and telling your parents, therefore, allowing your parents to deal with the situation and bring justice to their child. Also I recommend, researching state laws pertaining to cyber bullying.

People often think that bullies don’t see the effects of their actions, or that they don’t understand what they are doing to others. The thing is, bullies understand what they are doing. Whether the bullies are kids or adults, they know it is wrong. Bullying someone is abuse. Some people might say, “Bullying is really common. What are we going to do, send half of school kids to jail?” (From Scholastic Scope Part 2). Half of school kids won’t end up in jail because there are other alternatives.

For instance, bullies could be required to do community service, therapy, or be made to visit a prison to be shown what their futuremay be. In addition, parents, schools, college and kids need to work together. The problems won’t go away on their own. We need to look at the facts of each others case and take the appropriate action.

In short, bullying needs to stop. Bullying is a criminal act. Bullies harass, make threats, terrorize, and use verbal and physical abuse on their victims. We need to stand up to bullies and not let them strip us of our self-esteem. Bullies must face the consequences of their actions with either therapy or some version of criminal punishment.

Learning English

English language is the first most spoken language in this world. Many people interest to learn english language in order make them easily to communicate with foreigners and also make them easily to live in other country. Therefore, learning english is necessary for all people to make everything going easier. Actually, learning english is not difficult, but also not easy. All process depend on how serious the intention and how creative the learning method that used. Learning English is fun because it has the attractive strategies that make people enjoy and easy to understand such learning with music and movies also by playing kinds of game.

I had my first contact with english when I was six. My mom and my dad inspired me to listen the English song. I listened to them every day for the next seven years. In the beginning I could understand nothing of what they were singing. But soon I started to understand individual words, especially the ones which appeared in the titles.

Learning English with music and movies can make learning process more fun. It is not only make us smart, but also make us fun and enjoy. Listening English music can make our brain more active. Beside listening English word, our brain will try to save and think about the meaning of the song’s lyrics in the same time. Finally, we can remember all vocabularies easily.

By watching English movies, we also get the same process. Not only by listening music, but also by seeing the picture. We also can know the right pronunciation of English word and know more about English conversation.  It can make learning English more attractive. I learned every new English word that I met. With each new word I felt closer to my goal. With each word I felt that my reading ability was increasing. Each word added to my sense of power.

In conclusion, learning english is fun and has many interesting way that make learning process easier. There are many advantages we can get from learning english, if we have known and understood all about english language we can easily communicate with foreigners and we can visit any country without any worry. We can also having fun and enjoy our hobbies while learning english. By learning english, we can go around the world and find new interesting experience. Many occupations need people who know english well, it can make us easy to find job and make our future brilliant.

Passive and Active Voices

Verbs are also said to be either active (The executive committee approved the new policy) or passive (The new policy was approved by the executive committee) in voice. In the active voice, the subject and verb relationship is straightforward: the subject is a be-er or a do-er and the verb moves the sentence along. In the passive voice, the subject of the sentence is neither a do-er or a be-er, but is acted upon by some other agent or by something unnamed (The new policy was approved). Computerized grammar checkers can pick out a passive voice construction from miles away and ask you to revise it to a more active construction. There is nothing inherently wrong with the passive voice, but if you can say the same thing in the active mode, do so (see exceptions below). Your text will have more pizzazz as a result, since passive verb constructions tend to lie about in their pajamas and avoid actual work.

We find an overabundance of the passive voice in sentences created by self-protective business interests, magniloquent educators, and bombastic military writers (who must get weary of this accusation), who  use the passive voice to avoid responsibility for actions taken. Thus "Cigarette ads were designed to appeal especially to children" places the burden on the ads — as opposed to "We designed the cigarette ads to appeal especially to children," in which "we" accepts responsibility. At a White House press briefing we might hear that "The President was advised that certain members of Congress were being audited" rather than "The Head of the Internal Revenue service advised the President that her agency was auditing certain members of Congress" because the passive construction avoids responsibility for advising and for auditing. One further caution about the passive voice: we should not mix active and passive constructions in the same sentence: "The executive committee approved the new policy, and the calendar for next year's meetings was revised" should be recast as "The executive committee approved the new policy and revised the calendar for next year's meeting."

Take the quiz (below) as an exercise in recognizing and changing passive verbs.

The passive voice does exist for a reason, however, and its presence is not always to be despised. The passive is particularly useful (even recommended) in two situations:

• When it is more important to draw our attention to the person or thing acted upon: The unidentified victim was apparently struck during the early morning hours.
• When the actor in the situation is not important: The aurora borealis can be observed in the early morning hours.

The passive voice is especially helpful (and even regarded as mandatory) in scientific or technical writing or lab reports, where the actor is not really important but the process or principle being described is of ultimate importance. Instead of writing "I poured 20 cc of acid into the beaker," we would write "Twenty cc of acid is/was poured into the beaker." The passive voice is also useful when describing, say, a mechanical process in which the details of process are much more important than anyone's taking responsibility for the action: "The first coat of primer paint is applied immediately after the acid rinse."

We use the passive voice to good effect in a paragraph in which we wish to shift emphasis from what was the object in a first sentence to what becomes the subject in subsequent sentences.

The executive committee approved an entirely new policy for dealing with academic suspension and withdrawal. The policy had been written by a subcommittee on student behavior. If students withdraw from course work before suspension can take effect, the policy states, a mark of "IW". The paragraph is clearly about this new policy so it is appropriate that policy move from being the object in the first sentence to being the subject of the second sentence.

My Hobby

           

Hello, my name is Difa Dasa Putri. First of all, I’m gonna tell you about my hobby. I have so many hobbies. My first hobbies is reading novel, comic, magazine and many more. My favorite novel is Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, The Hunger Games Trilogy, Percy Jackson Series and i like a novel by John Green very much. I find out lately that giving time to myself in reading is making me enjoy it, plus it also helps my english as well. I’d like to read comic, especially Detective Conan, Black Butler and Kuroko’s Basketball. I’d like to bought some novel and comic at Gramedia and a bookstore who have complete collection book. I usually go to bookstore with my friend and my family. Last month i bought a book i really wanted to read and love that story so much, the title is Fifth Shades Of Grey. I think that reading is good, because it builds my language and it separates me for a short time from a lot activities and makes me enjoy my time, and books provide the reader with so much information and facts. They have certainly helped me in my daily life. I am better equipped to cope with living. Otherwise i would go about ignorantly learning the hard way. So, i continue to read. Besides being more informed about the world, i also spend my time profitably. It is indeed a good hobby. My second hobbies is watching movies. My favorite genre movies are action, romance, comedy and horror. One of my favorite movie are Love Rosie and all of Marvel’s Company. My third hobbies are listening music. Because music makes me tension free and i hope everyone like enjoying music, it gives me a peaceful mind.  I kinda like indie music but i love pop music a lot. And i dedicated my time to fangirling over British-Irish band named One Direction, American punk-rock band All Time Low, American women singer Taylor Swift, Japanese band L’Arc~en~Ciel, One Ok Rock, Monkey Majik, and Scandal. This time I’d like to heard pop music from One Direction. Let me telling you about a bit of my journey this month, I loved this band and I’ve been waiting them for over 5 years and 25th of March finally they came to my country. I bought the ticket and goin to their concert in Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. It was the best day of my life ever. Ps, Harry Styles is the cutest human I’ve ever seen. I’ve spend my money to buying all of their stuffs like their album, T-shirt, posters, and many more. I bought their stuffs at bookstore and music store in my city. My fourth hobbies are playing computer and games. When it’s raining or it’s bad weather, i usually stay at home. Than i play computer or games. When i play computer and games, the time goes on very fast. So when i look on the watches, i’m always surprised how quickly i can spend the time. When it’s nice weather like sunny without clouds, i go out with my friends. Sometimes we go to Mall, where we can hangout. My fifth hobbies are drawing (make cartoon and many more). It makes my mind free and inspire me to create something from my mind. When i am blue, i cheer myself up by drawing something so that i can make myself happy. Drawing is a way for me to show my crativity. However drawing is not as easy as it seems to be. It needs a lot of devotion as well as practice. I can  never feel bored when i have my colors with me. My colors are my best friend. I like drawing since i was 10 years old. I like to make cartoon things look realistic through drawing. Drawing is the perfect way to make things look alive. I have decorate my room with a lot of my drawing. Last year i gift my parents with my drawing on their anniversaries because they are very fond of my drawing and always encourage me to practice more. Drawing has now become the most important part of my life. But most of the times i am unable to take out much time due to my studies an social life. But i still manage to take out sometime and practice to improve my drawing. My sixth hobbies is cooking. I have to cook homemade meals, because they are healthy, and nutrisions to eat. My favorite things that i like to cook are Pancake and many more. Cooking to me is also an enjoyable thing to do as well as it being a special hobby. It helps me relax and helps me keep my mind active. I love to try new items and cook things that i never would have even attempted before in addition, my mother always helps me and enjoying it. My seventh hobbies is traveling. Because, sometimes whan i feel bored, i want refreshments in my life. I just go out and decide to travel.
